Fibre down? Give your connected home a backup connection
· MV Security & IT Services
A working Wi-Fi signal does not always mean your home has internet access. If fibre fails, remote camera viewing and other internet-dependent services may become unavailable.
Compatible routers such as TP-Link’s Archer MR600 can use mobile-data backup when the primary connection fails, with the correct configuration and a working SIM.
Check the hardware version, mobile coverage, data allowance and compatibility with your network. The router and connected equipment also need suitable power backup.
Test the changeover: confirm which services recover, whether remote camera access works, and what happens when fibre returns. Backup connectivity can improve resilience, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
